The Quest for Protein Excellence

protein powder, refuel body, muscle, weight gain, workout, nutritionAccording to Fitness Professionals Avery, one of the most important things a person can do immediately following a tough workout, is to refuel your body with a food packed with protein. For best results, protein should be consumed within 30 minutes after a workout. If protein is not ingested, the body will automatically look for a new source of protein to feed the muscles that have just been worked. Ironically, that source is muscle instead of from contents in the stomach or from fat.

Protein can come in in many forms. One of the most common and easiest to consume is a glass of chocolate milk. Other common forms are red meats, fish and eggs. But, let’s say you don’t have time to get that essential protein in your system in the first 30 minutes following a workout. Maybe you’re running from the gym to work or to your kids’ sporting event. If you’re working out at Innovative Health & Fitness, you’re in luck.

While we don’t endorse any one product, we do currently offer a wide selection of Quest Protein products in the forms of powders and bars. Each item has at least a minimum of 20 grams of protein – exactly the amount needed to refuel your body and muscles post-workout.

Each of the different flavored Quest Protein Bars can be found near the front desk. Most are Gluten-free (not the Cravings Peanut Butter Cups). My personal favorite is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. As far as the Quest Protein Powders go, we carry several flavors that can easily be mixed up in your shaker cup. My favorite powder flavor is Chocolate Malt.

So, before you leave the gym, pick up a one (or several) of our Quest products – the bars are even great to stash in your purse or gym bag – and do your body right for that ride home.
