Set Yourself Up for Success – MINUTE FIT TIP
By Lynne Cotton, Personal Trainer
It’s not about having time, it’s about making time!
Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day, but do you ever feel like some people have more? When it comes to your health, what are you doing to prepare yourself for that day, week, or month?
Not a morning person? Get your workout bag and a “grab and go” breakfast ready the night before.
Food Prep
Snacks: Take the time to clean, chop, and portion out your snacks for a few days at one time so they are ready to go when you are.
Meal Prep: If you are just starting out, it can be overwhelming to look at an entire week and plan what you’re going to eat. Pick two days of your week that tend to be the busiest. Once those two days become the new normal, try to add an extra day or two.
Schedule your Workouts
Take a look at your schedule and make an appointment with yourself to exercise throughout the week and stick to it. Make time for the 20, 30, 45 minutes or more to take care of your health. “I never regret when I do it, but I always regret when I don’t”.
Fitness just doesn’t happen on the weekdays. You work hard all week to exercise and eat well Monday through Friday. Don’t sabotage all your hard work over the weekend! Allow for the occasional indulgence, but prepare for it in advance. Get a little workout in before and prepare to have some healthier snacks on hand to limit going overboard. Don’t let the indulgence knock you off track, just pick up where you left off at the next meal.
